“Every idea starts on the loom.
There I experiment directly with the material, colour, and structures and see results straight away.
The picture in my head changes a lot on the loom.
I am intrigued by the interaction of simplicity and complexity during weaving.

About
Her biggest influence in life had always been her grandmothers, who introduced her to her love for textile crafts at an early age. While one was teaching her to knit and to sew, the other one opened up the world of Japanese textiles to her.
After initially trying her hands at tailoring, followed by a position at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Lara discovered her passion for weaving and finally decided to study textile design at HAW Hamburg.
After graduating with a Masters Degree in textile design from Luzern University of Applied Science and Arts, in Switzerland, where she also worked as a researcher for the product & textile department, Lara Stamm returned to her hometown Wiesbaden and opened her own textile Studio in the neigbouring city of Mainz, in 2020.
She named the Studio after her maternal grandparents, who both worked as fashion illustrators and graphic designers. For her textiles, she finds inspiration in architecture, art, design, and nature’s colours and structures.

Sundar - the name of the carpet pays tribute to the owner and master weaver of the manufactory that Lara collaborated with. Sundar also means beautiful in Sanskrit.
